My mom wont consider letting me get a pro model tenor?

I’ve been playing tenor sax since a week before 6th grade (Im a junior in HS now) and I have a student model unison from the 6003 series. I like it and all, but sometimes I get to play this really old, professional tenor the school has, and Its so much better I nicknamed it Epic Saxophone, and whenever I go to my dads friends house and he lets me play one of his pro’s I never want to put it down. I want to go into music in college (a double major in jazz and genetics) and I am recording with my dad for a CD he’s doing (he’s a jazz musician) and I’ve been considering auditioning for some bands around my area, but I think I would be better equipped with a pro model.

My mom laughed in my face when I asked about it. My first tenor got kicked down the bleachers at a basketball game by a clumsy trombonist and my mother blames me for the fact that it literally broke in half (it fell quite a ways and I was crying when she exchanged it for my new one). Also I once borrowed a school sax for a talent show and while it was back stage and I was in the audience waiting one of my friends played it and dropped it, then later in the show someone put a super heavy piece of equipment on the same table and it collapsed, saxophone and all and my band teacher made my mom pay for it. So she doesn’t trust me with such an expensive saxophone and calls me the Saxophone Killer EVEN THOUGH I take super good care of all my instruments (I have like 13), when I had my original sax (named Sammy) I used to spend like 10 minutes after class polishing and cleaning it before I tucked it in with the polishing cloth. I nickname all my instruments and treat them like small children, my friends make fun of me, but I love my babies with a passion.

I KNOW that its not necessary for me to get a pro model, but It would be AMAZING. How can I convince my mom to SERIOUSLY consider it. (I don’t live with my dad and he could barley afford to keep up the payments for my unison btw so I cant ask him even though he would probably do it)
1. My parents have NOT payed for 13 instraments! Please don’t assume things like that? Most of them are hand-me-downs from older family memebers or stuff from eBay. Only my Tenor cost over 500 dollars and the only one that comes close to matching that is my drumset.

2. I AM trying to get a job. My mom is not LETTING me get a new sax, as in even if I did have a job, she wouldn’t let me

3.I stated quite clearly I know I dont HAVE to have a pro. I would LIKE one because I could hear the difference immediately. Nothings wrong with my baby. I just would like another one.
Also I was NOT the one who broke those tenors. I had no part in that what so ever and I never said I wanted a NEW pro. Theres much cheeper used ones Im looking at that are just fine!

Being a Junior in High School, you can get a job and earn the money for it yourself! This is a great example of learning the value of a dollar. Once you’ve worked so many hours to buy this particular Saxaphone and look back at how long it took to buy it; you’ll understand why your mom was laughing because I’m guessing she works hard. This is not meant to be offensive in any way.

I started working illegally when I was 12 so I could buy food, then started working in a restaurant at age 15 so I could eat regularly. (At 12 I was cleaning out a hair salon for a couple bucks each time I did it, movie theatre running the reels, skating rink behind the food/drink counter (that was to save money to buy the Reidel Roller Hockey skates I wanted and a case for it (still have them! 4 wheels and all – we were national champions in 1977, Pismo Beach Rollerettes, lol) True story.

But now that your at this age, being a junior in H.S., you can start learning life’s responsibilities because believe me, there are a LOT to learn. The sooner you start, the more content your life will be. :o )

ADD: If you earn the money yourself and pay for the instrument with your OWN money, there isn’t anything they can say about that. The check from your job is written out to you – make sure you start your own bank account in your own name. I wouldn’t let anyone keep me from my dream. Get that job, get that tenor sax. (Get insurance on that sax!!) :o ))

Field service heavy equipment mechanic: Which would he use more: an impact DRIVER or impact WRENCH?

Christmas shopping for my husband who is a field service heavy equipment mechanic.
He mentioned the other day he wishes he had a "cordless impact _____ so he wouldn’t have to unwind the air hose all the time". I made a mental note to get it for him for Christmas, but apparently I should’ve paid attention to DRIVER vs WRENCH vs DRILL. ?!?!

Which was he referring to, an impact driver or impact wrench? I am so confused on which he would use more…. Thank you!

Is it hard to move with the TKD sparring gears?

I just started taking classes and I participated in the sparring classes. And I notice that they wear heavy sparring equipments which really hard to move with. Has anyone had any problems moving with the Sparring gears?

Head gear: if you sweat a lot, you should think about wearing a do-rag underneath.

Chest gear: make sure it fits snug, because your first front snap kick is going to transfer the chest protector into your chin giving you whiplash every kick. If necessary, err on the side of being too small.

Foot gear: there are many varieties. There are the polyethelene coated styrofoam, which have plastic coated cloth that cover the ball of toe. Then there are cloth slip-ons that, rather than the plastic coated cloth, they just have cloth covering the ball of toe. Then there are the velcro-wrap around types. All of these types protect the instep; if you get foot gear that does not have instep protection, then, these problems don’t apply.

Which type you use can affect some kicks when used on different kind of flooring. The affected kicks are the spin and roundhouse; these kicks require you to pivot on the ball of your toe – which is covered by the said material (plastic-coated cloth, cloth, and velcro).

Wood floors come in two flavors: lacquered and unlacquered. Lacquered floors will grab the plastic-coated-cloth, and will be too slippery with cloth and velcro ones. Unlacquered floors are excellent with the pastic-coated-cloth, because the floor doesn’t grab, and the plastic isn’t too slippery, But the velcro and cloth ones will be too slippery.

Matted floors come in two flavors: puzzled and tatami-style. Puzzled mats are made of hard-rubber foam, which are horrible when using the plastic-coated cloth, but are okay for cloth or velcro. Tatami-style mats are compatible with any foot gear, since they are neither slippery nor do they grab.

Groin protection: there are internal-wear and external-wear. I hate the external wear, but, they come in handy when you are involved in classes where many activities are done which include sparring and changing into/out of the internal-wear protector is inconvenient. I prefer the internal wear, and opt to wear them the entire class or activity.

Mouth guard: you don’t need to get the $500 guards that sit in the bowl at the dentists office; you can get the $3 package from Walmart. Just don’t get the non-boil style, because I find they tend to cut the mouth up pretty badly when focusing on sparring. The boil-types, on the other hand, periodically require re-boiling.

Some places have sparring-gear-optional policies. Remember, one kick to the stomach and you could have your xyphoid process break off and puncture the liver. Death in minutes. Mouth guard and groin guard need no recommendation. Head hear, if kicks to the head are forbidden, can be dispensed with, if allowed. Hand, forearm, shin, and foot gear… I prefer to do without in light contact, and prefer instep only for full contact.

i am looking for a job same field please if some one know let me know?
